I own a 1.6 Quashqai N Tec Plus - had it for just under 12 months - but since September 19 its exhibiting a starter fault. You depress clutch - push start button - and nothing but a click - then again - another click etc....BUT its intermittent. Local Dealer saw it this week - told me it might have been keys or me not using start button properly but 2 days out of their garage its doing it all over again. Now talking to Nissan direct - does anyone have advice or have a similar tale as if this is a known fault I'd love to know.

gvmdaddy - this is a failure of the car to start in the first place - not what we'd conventionally call "Stop/Start failure".

The problem isn't something I've come across - though twice I've had to "re-pair" the key to the button by holding it close.

Are you certain you're fully depressing the clutch pedal ? Just out of interest I thought I'd see what happens if you don't fully depress it when you press the start button.... it does nothing other than click. On mine that if it's not within the last couple of cms of travel it won't start up. Maybe there's a sensor in need of adjustment.

Another thing you could try is pressing the brake pedal instead of the clutch. This is an alternative way of starting the car (has to be in neutral).
