Well I am sure we are all going to be so impressed by this feature that is in our QQ’s. This is one Technical Feature that I missed and it is called the “Curry Hook” – Dave

Nissan celebrates 20 years of the “Curry Hook”. This month marks 20 years since the debut of one of its most iconic features – the much-loved “Curry hook”. The dashboard hook first appeared on the Nissan Almera compact family hatchback in March 1996, as a way of keeping hand bags or shopping bags upright. It was quickly dubbed the “Curry Hook” by media who recognised it was the perfect way to stop takeaway food from spilling into the car’s foot well. Today, it remains a feature of the brand’s award-winning crossovers such as the Qashqai and X-Trail. All that’s changed is the location of the hook; it has moved from the dashboard to the boot.

Would you believe having read about it in the owner's handbook I've actually tried it out! Seemed a bit flimsy to me.

These hooks are really crap quality compared to the ones in my wifes Octavia. These look like they will break off pretty quick although I do use mine as I have a football in a plastic bag and it stops it from rolling around my boot. I wouldnt risk anything heavy though.

Here's a pic of the Skoda one (you can hang some really heavy stuff of it) ..

With the weight of the bag on the boot floor, I just trap the handles in the hook to prevent the bag from rolling/tipping over. The bag is secured without the hook fully taking the weight. It seems a bit low down to actually be able to hang a bag from it anyway (apart from takeaway food, and I don't like curry!)
