RVW & gvmdaddy, cannot agree more with your comments regarding manufacturers "Pulling their Fingers Out" and developing a Filtration System. RVW what you have just posted certainly makes you think with regard to possible, existing and future Lung problems.
I have tried to find some facts out on Filters but all I can find is the available SCR & Adblue Methods. This looks though where PSA are on the Band Wagon by using this Technology now on all their Euro 6 vehicles - Dave ;)

I mentioned the SCR & Adblue Methods on recent Post, but here are a couple more comments FYI :

So what system is used in NISSAN? I have a 1.5 dci bought brand new in June 2016. Is it Euro 6?
See no reference in manufacturers instructions as to additives or for DPF regeneration procedure.
May have missed it somewhere

RVW, here we go Nissan states all Euro 6 :D but regarding Diesel DPF I think you have to refer to your Manual - Dave ;)

RVW, your dpf regenerates by itself, controlled by the ecu when certain conditions are met from varioue sensors. There are no addatives at all. The dpf is not designed to lessen Nox or indeed any other exhaust gasses, purely the carbon deposits.
It is the smaller catalytic convertor that processes the exhuast gasses, resulting in reduces Nox levels.

I've ordered a diesel QQ. I'm getting concerned as to what the future holds, it's the 1.5 and I thought the emissions on this engine were low.

Simon1100, it depends on what model you've ordered. Take a look at these figures for NOx output. I was surprised to see some of the 1.2 petrol models have a higher NOx output. If these figures are correct then your 1.5dci is going to prove to be a good choice. No doubt others will voice opinions that contradict what you will read below.

Just recently RVW & gvmdaddy made a comment regarding more effort should be put into Filter Systems and I agree. So I felt I owed them some Facts and have been reading up on what I can find out here and the Co. Name TwinTec / Baumont keeps being mentioned. A conversion cost has been mentioned of around €1500. Now I have found hopefully attached some English Writeups which might be of interest, I also tried a UK Twintec Tel. No. but could not get through. So I just thought this might be of interest, might not and I am no Specilaist anyway on the subject so please take a read - Dave :)

All this TREE HUGGING is very admirable and I for one support clean air. BUT until they come up with an electric car capable of approx 600 mile duration, able to tow a caravan/ trailer/ has sufficient charge points to be able to travel where and when you want/and probably more important --- have enough power generation to be able to charge all of these electric vehicles and homes and business etc, I will be sticking to my Current mode of transport.
If they want to reduce nox emissions then put some effort into developing an add on filter for people to fit.
End of rant.

I totally agree with RVW's point...."If they want to reduce nox emissions then put some effort into developing an add on filter for people to fit".

On 21 February 2017, Stuttgart became the first German city to prohibit, with effect from 2018, access by diesel vehicles that do not meet the emission limits of the EURO 6 standard – and in so doing, Stuttgart also got the ball rolling for many other large German cities. In order to meet the EURO 6 standard, diesel vehicles must lower their NOx emissions to below 0.08 g/km. Vehicles that do not meet at least the EURO 6 standard are at risk of losing considerable value.

Twintec Statements :
WHAT IS THE BLUE STICKER
As with the existing green sticker for EURO 4 vehicles, only vehicles that satisfy the EURO 6 standard will obtain the blue sticker. Older vehicles with the blue sticker will still be able to enter designated blue zones in cities and municipalities if they are upgraded to the EURO 6 values with a retrofit solution such as the BNOx system. The introduction of blue stickers and their requirements are currently under discussion at the federal level in Germany. If the blue sticker is introduced, it would offer owners of older model vehicles a way to minimise their loss in value and to maintain their mobility while preserving the environment at the same time.

THE PROBLEM
If legislators do not adopt and introduce the blue sticker, several million diesel vehicles are at risk of being prohibited from entering large cities with heavy nitrogen oxide pollution levels. This would cause such vehicles to lose a tremendous amount of value.

After reading this article it brought back memories on what happened here in 2008 when our Audi A6 Avant 1,9 Diesel got banned from the City of Berlin so we had to sell it and bought a new Nissan Note. But the situation that arose was just as mentioned on this attached article and that is the problems of the daily deliveries, Handy Men, Delivery and Emergency vehicles that could well be affected. Not every small setup has sufficient funds to Layout on conversions or new vehicles - Dave ;)

This subject must be a nightmare to Diesel Owners whose vehicles do not meet the new Regulations. You cannot open a newspaper or hear the news without this subject being brought up. Pollution is a known killer and it has been mentioned before that Action needs to take place and soon. Sorry to keep on but I suppose it is better to be wise and up to date on this subject - Dave ;)
