Hello,
I was just going through the manual and came across a paragraph where it mentions the need to top-up the engine oil if needed between oil change intervals. It mentions genuine Nissan 5W30 Low SAPS DPF. Since 1.5 dCi is the National engine of France (thanks to Renault) , would it be alright if I use the 5W30 which only mentions Renault? Thank you.

Oil consumption on mine is minimal and top-up not needed between services. Do not top up unless the level is very near the minimum mark on the dipstick. Certainly be sure not to overfill.

Thank you Quacker. Bit off topic, you've gone from Juke 1.5D Tekna 2011 to ur Qashqai, have you observed any difference in the engine behavior amongst the two? I recently drove the 1.5 dCi Duster (110 PS) & it felt totally different.
No difference in oil consumption but the later engine is quieter, possibly due to the insulation, has higher torque at low revs and is quite significantly more economical.
My September 2015 1.5 DCi came up with a low oil level warning on the dash today - only got 8775 on the clock. Went to the main stealers and they reckoned that that wasn't abnormal. Bought 1l of Nissan branded 5W30 DPF for £10.00

Was it particularly low on the dipstick? Do you drive it particularly hard or have driven it very gently from new?
The Nissan dealer is correct and oil consumption can be higher when an engine is new compared to when it is fully run-in. To run a modern engine in properly, let it heat up before revving or loading it highly and drive with varying loads and revs and let the engine cool before shutting down for a minute or so. Nothing worse that running a new diesel engine at virtually no load and minimal revs from new, because the cylinder bores might glaze and cause poor future performance and high oil consumption. Your consumption is just a bit on the high side but not abnormal in my opinion.
