Swapping the instrument cluster over

Hi,
I have another current post open about an MIL light on my instrument cluster missing.

It is looking like the cluster has been doctored by a previous owner to stop this light coming up.

My Question and possible topic of discussion is:

Is there any way that a 2011 cluster (i.e. the one with the white display in the middle) fit and work on my 2008 QQ tekna?

Has anyone tried this and how did you get on if so?

The plugs look the same at the back, but do you have to program these units to work with my car?

IF it can be done I presume you would have to inform DVLA (UK) as your total mileage would be totally wrong. Best to remember as well that without your dpf then your insurance is invalid and you are driving illegally.
