Hi Ian, I take it you have the mk1 version and not the 1.6 dig-t? Any modern car with a 1.6 engine will easily cope with this journey, providing that the engine is in good working order. Keeping a constant 3K revs for miles on end is nothing for a modern engine. Hope this helps.
