I've noticed this the past couple of years on my '64 plate QQ, though not this year just yet as the weather has been kind so far, to the point where I seem to bang my head every couple of weeks. But maybe that's just me being clumsy ...

I also have a 64 plate QQ and of late the key was starting to be a bit flaky, so got the battery replaced (free of charge, to my surprise) at its recent service. Seems fine now, fingers x-ed!

I too have had that problem on several occasions, but no suggestions unfortunately (other than not making the problem worse by standing on a pavement as I've also been known to do).
