Re: 2012 qashqai rattle.

Hi, It sounds like the problem I had with mine which was due to body flex, especially bad with the panorama roof models. Nearly drove me mad. My local Nissan dealer in Melbourne immediately knew what it was and fitted the Nissan recommended body stiffening kit. It is now totally fine after a year or...

Re: Occasional, metallic knock at low speed at rear

Before we all get too excited by body flex in the QQ, it is worthwhile considering that all car bodies flex to some extent due the forces that are applied to the chassis as a car travels along a road. There is a short piece on this on Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Body_flex There are also...

Re: Occasional, metallic knock at low speed at rear

I am quoting from a copy of the Nissan dealer's work report that was submitted to Nissan for the dealer's warranty claim on Nissan. Do you have access to the Nissan Technical Bulletin database? I can imagine that this database is not in the public domain as Nissan may not want other car manufacturer...

Re: Occasional, metallic knock at low speed at rear

As previously mentioned the stiffening kit is covered by a technical service bulletin from Nissan (BT17-001 on J11). It is to address noises caused by flexing of the body. If the vehicle is under warranty and it is making noises from the rear, then I would imagine Nissan would fit this at no cost. I...

Re: Occasional, metallic knock at low speed at rear

I wouldn’t be so sure it is not body flex. My noise was also a click or dink sort of noise - not unlike a small stone being thrown up by a wheel against the wheel arch. I would imagine that body flex noises could be quite diverse in their manifestation. If no other obvious source of the noise can be...

Re: Occasional, metallic knock at low speed at rear

This sounds suspiciously like the problem I was encountering and described on this forum a month or so ago - an intermittent ticking or clicking noise that was emanating from the rear of the car somewhere. I returned it to the local Nissan dealer who to my surprise took it very seriously and their i...

Re: Ticking noise from rear

Thanks for those great suggestions. The problem with the weld in the rear corner of the car sounds like a very probable cause of the noise. The blind assembly moving around is possible, however working against this theory is the fact that the noise continues unchanged irrespective of whether the bli...

Ticking noise from rear

I have a two-year old QQ, 2 litre petrol TI model in Australia - with panorama roof. In the past six months it has started to develop an intermittent ticking or clicking noise that seems to originate from the rear of the cabin at speeds of between 40 and 60 kmh. It does not seem to be related to une...

Re: VW Emission tests

Some excellent posts on this thread which I enjoyed reading. I think another aspect to this that has not really come out so much in the media, is the role governments have played in this. From my reading, it was the French who were mainly behind the big push into diesel engines, mainly because of th...

Re: Tyre change made impossible

I can also confirm that my Australian QQ has a jack supplied - albeit a pretty flimsy looking one. However I am sure that when I take the car to get the tyres replaced sometime in the future, they are just going to stick their trolley jack under it and hoist away. And I can't imagine that the Nissan...
