Re: Failed MOT on lower arm - J10
I actually joined because I thought your post was relevant to what I was doing and you seemed to have some knowledge of the matter, but then you went off talking about using nuts from Lidl...

Re: Failed MOT on lower arm - J10
You are wandering off the point, however looking at your other thread, you dont seem to have bought the best maintained example of a Qashqai.

Re: Failed MOT on lower arm - J10
I doubt that he will be able to, any more than his other outrageously unfounded comments.

Re: Failed MOT on lower arm - J10
Lidl dont make nuts of course, but the point is that any fastener to be used in certain applications needs to be of a certain standard/strength. A general purpose DIY nut is not likely to conform. The nut Nissan have supplied is a lock nut, it has a flange on the top that performs this function. Not...

Re: Failed MOT on lower arm - J10

That's what I thought but Nissan told me otherwise.
The other bolt on the other side has 10 on it also, so at least that matches. I'll fit them, but was no left with the feeling that any Nissan dealers knew what I wanted or what the part did.

Re: Failed MOT on lower arm - J10
The 'wrong' bolt was put on by the garage, but I didn't know that. I'm sure its fine, but now I've come to do the control arm again after less than 12k miles, I want it done correctly. That means the correct tensile strength bolt AND nut. Not ones from a scrapyard or Lidls. I'm sure that certain typ...

Re: Failed MOT on lower arm - J10
Indeed, I got the bolts from Nissan. Dealers are not immune to supplying the wrong parts though and as the task of even getting them to understand the parts I wanted seemed to be beyond their scope initially, I was sceptical seeing as none of the part numbers matched the the information I was given....
