These housings only started failing on 2019 cars recently - it looks to be an 'age' thing, ie when the part gets a bit old it starts to fail. So if the same part is on 2021/2/3/4 cars it too could fail after 4-5 years.

In case you were unaware, hitting the accelerator overrides the braking.

As of Jan 2024, in the UK, the part number for the latest version was N110600260R. I have no idea if yours is older or newer or just a different part number due to your location. Just been out in mine and the gearstick moves no more than 2mm in any gear, any speed. Current mileage is 52,000.

Tbh, when I called Nissan CS to see what they were planning to do I mentioned that very thing, some form of clamp to reinforce the joint, but no. I guess that would've cost them money, and why spend thousands on old customers whilst there are plenty of new ones out there.
