As mentioned, Qashqai diesels from 2014 on have a self-regeneration system which will prevent the particulate filter from becoming blocked. Don't take your car to this so-called "car expert" for any work!

I fitted the 12v socket on the same RH panel where you placed your LED strip, but lower down. Unless you
added more strips after the one shown in this photo, there should be room for you to put a socket as well.

I bought one of those one-size-fits-all jobs and trimmed it, and it fits just fine. It was from eBay, and about a tenner including P+P.
