Maybe because you're supposed to put the vehicle in "P" (Park) which, by locking the transmission, effectively brakes the vehicle anyway.

I've now done 550 miles in my 1.6dCi CVT and although I did once see the fuel economy nudge the giddy height of 57 mpg, my highest average is still 54.4 (a fluke, I think) and the usual mixed-condition average is between 45 and 48 mpg. The plastic shroud at the bottom of the driver's seatbelt floor mounting knocks against the plastic base of my seat on a rough road surface. I plan to put a foam sleeve around it. Strangely the passenger side has a completely different construction.

I find the ride fine but it's a bit noisy on rough road surfaces. When you hit a new smooth road it's suddenly like riding on a magic carpet! Enjoy it when you get it...
