My partner drives a Leaf.
It sounds very much like the car is in B mode

Love stop/start but sheepishly admit to disabling it for short journeys.
When I leave it on (10 mile + journey) it works really well.

Sounds like the sensor which tells the car that the boot is closed is misaligned or faulty.
I don’t know where it is on a J10 but if you can find it it’s probably adjustable

Just read this and went straight outside and checked mine.
Lucky for me, mine is fine.

Hopefully, it will be straightforward to work out what is wrong with your car.

As above, not heard of this/these problems before now.

As I understand it Android Auto needs to be installed on your android mobile phone.
Connect the phone to the car and you can crack on (SWMBO is an android fan and this was her process to connect to her Leaf)

I can’t offer any comparison between Android Auto and CarPlay, sorry
