No, since I saw it will limit how fare it will open I decided to wait. Because someone wrote that the manufacturer was
looking in to the problem I was hoping for a solution. It's still sitting here waiting.

Just taken a look at a new X-Trail at our Dealer here and was impressed with the Function of the Rear Auto Tailgate, smooth opening action and closing and some nice Big Struts. Also Opening Height was sufficient to stand under - Dave

I've just noticed, when bonnet hit my head that on one of my struts the brass nipple joint has come out/ disappeared.
Missing part arrowed.
Can't see in engine bay; will try Russian supplier these were sourced from on a group buy.
Not that hopeful.

Any idea where I could get a replacement brass part in UK?

Gel, you might not remember this but before we purchased the Russian Struts I was looking with Splank to get a set manufactured for the Forum. The contact I made in the UK was „SGS Engineering“ and they do a wide range of Strut orientated parts such as what you appear to be after, give them a try - Dave

UPDATE:

Have found some "ball joints/knuckles" on E Bay, where you're not so caned on P+P, as you are with UK strut

However, need to ascertain what the M size is of the thread on the brass bolt
so I get correct one; got no micrometer.

Others who've installed may want to check that nothings come loose on their struts!!

Gel, this is what came out and is M6 x 16mm long. Checked ours all are tight and functioning - Dave
