Hallo,

I'm new to the forum and considering buying a secondhand QQ, 2007 1.5 diesel. It has 69k miles on the clock and owner confirms timing belt/cam belt was NOT changed at 60k miles.

My questions are:

- when changing the timing/cam belt, do other parts also need to be changed at the same time;

- there seem to be variations on the recommended mileage point at which to change it, would you advise it should be changed now, rather than waiting?

The vehicle history on Regit.com also lists 'Outstanding recalls' - does this mean the current owner did not take it in for the recalls?

Any other tips / advice / warnings before I take the plunge?

Many thanks!

Cris

Welcome to this forum.

This car you're looking at is a really old car - first year of production.

Timing belt is changed every five years - this one should have had changes in 2012 and 2017 with another due next year.

The mileage interval is variously seen as 60k, 72k, 75k and 90k. But "yours" is extremely overdue on age if it's never been done before. Needs changing immediately I'd suggest.

Tensioner pulley should be included anyway and water pump might as well be changed at the same time.

What are the "outstanding recalls"? Does it not list them? Recalls aren't mandatory but shouldn't be ignored since they should be free so why not get them done.

I presume you've been here? https://www.regit.cars/recalls/nissan-qashqai

There are currently 16 safety recalls out on the Nissan Qashqai. To find out whether your car is affected, you'll need to find your car's VIN number.

This site lists them - this covers all Qashqais not just a 2007 one:
