What revs at 70 ?
I was driving my wife’s car and noticed that at 70 on a level road the Rev counter reads just under 3000. It’s a petrol Vauxhall.my QuashQai is revving at 3500 and sounding stressed. Is this normal ? The fuel consumption is not brilliant either; 40 mpg on a long run according to the read out on the dash. Any comparison would be interesting thanks.

Stressed at 3.500rpm mine is often in 5000rpm people don't drive cars anymore no wonder they get clogged up .....70 mph will suit the peak revs of that engine to motorway speed what QQ do you have petrol. or diesel ..5speed or 6speed...

The torque peak for your car is 4.400rpm which means it will rev quite high at 70mph. Yes your right it needs a 6 gear.... Some engines.... petrol need lots of revs to make them go.my old Honda 1.8 was like that...Now the new 1.2 engine in my car torque peak.
Pulling power. is 1800rpm so its drives like a diesel. And if you put your foot down it goes must admit it not my car .... lease.. And I don't worry about mpg I just enjoy it

My 1.2 2015 petrol 6 speed gives basically the same numbers as my old 1.5 2009 diesel 6 speed:
5th gear is 2750 revs
6th gear is 2300 revs
5th gear is 2750 revs
6th gear is 2300 revs

All I can say is that if you’re driving around and frequently reaching 5000+rpm then it’s high time you sat down and thought about your driving style! Downright irresponsible, dangerous and wasteful. You’re driving on public highways, not a racetrack.david sunderland wrote: ↑Thu Nov 30, 2017 8:58 pm Stressed at 3.500rpm mine is often in 5000rpm people don't drive cars anymore no wonder they get clogged up .....70 mph will suit the peak revs of that engine to motorway speed what QQ do you have petrol. or diesel ..5speed or 6speed...
