windscreen wipers wont turn off

Hi
I have a 08 Nissan Qashqai 1.5dci and my windscreen wipers wont turn off unless I either pull the fuse out or turn engine off.
I would like any advice on what the problem could be it is so irritating its as if they are on automatic they will go for a bit then stop for 20 seconds then go again.

Sounds like a false ON condition...delayed function. Could be an electrical relay, sensors or the wiper delay system itself?

Thanks for your input but i have googled which relat runs the wipers and can only find a fuse there is not a relay for wipers any more info would be great....

From the service manual:
FRONT WIPER BASIC OPERATION
• BCM detects the combination switch condition by the combination switch reading function.
• BCM transmits the front wiper request signal to IPDM E/R with CAN communication depending on each
operating condition of the front wiper.
• IPDM E/R turns ON/OFF the integrated front wiper relay and the front wiper high relay according to the front
wiper request signal. IPDM E/R provides the power supply to operate the front wiper HI/LO operation

It could be the switch broken and stuck on?

Hi
thanks for the replies and the info but I still cannot find the fault. I am unsure if I need a new windscreen wiper motor or will it be something else I have took it to a local garage and they could not locate the fault either I have been advised to take it to a auto electrician but will they just put a fault meter on it like the garage or will they be able to locate the fault.
