Dear all, sorry if such topic allready exist. I have Nissan Qashqai 2009 1.6 petrol 84kW (114HP) 5 speed manual transmission. My question is: Is it posible to swap 5 speed manual transmission to 6 speed manual transmission from 2.0 petrol 104kW (141HP)? Tryed to google it but no luck. And does anybody know how to install/add cruise control? Tnx in advance.

Lakl, well that is a bit of a Specialist question regarding that Swap. Why not try a call to a “Specialist” Gearbox Shop and ask that question, you really need to question the Guys that do this work on a daily basis as they normally have the answers in their Hands & Heads - it’s Worth a Try ! Dave

Its an awkward proposition. The car becomes modified and is not recognised by an insurance company for one...more money.

Without accurate mechanical diagrams it is impossible to determine and I wouldn't think anybody is knowledgeable. A very big risk

I don't havew any mechanical knowledge about gearboxes whatsoever - but according to listings on eBay this is a 2009 era 1.6 petrol 5-speed:
... and this is a 2009 era 12.0 petrol 6-speed:
... so I conclude not.

I don't know the answer for cruise control either.

Sorry, but in my opinion if these are the Boxes you are after in my eyes there appears to be noticeable difference regarding the Screw & Dowel Location Pin Positions. My question is will they mate together with the existing Motor ? - Dave

I was looking the same pictures, and could not conclude anything. It looks so diferent but yet so same. If i had a mechanic that i can trust i would ask him, but no such luck.

The bell housings could be different for all sorts of reasons...not forgetting the clutch and spline assy's.

Well they're a completely different shape for one!

The one is very "circular" - the other is not! The holes are in different places!

Clearly a complete non-starter!

You haven't said why you're wanting to do this.

According to my calculation, given that the gear ratios in both the gearboxs and final drive differ, I estimate 5th gear on the 5-speed is approximately 5.23th on the 6-speed box (assuming the 6-speed final drive). So only a small reduction in engine speed.
