Alloy protectors & boot/dog guard

Hi everyone,

Sorry if this has already been discussed, please point in right direction if it has. But I am looking for advice on two matters, first being decent alloy/rim protectors. I’ve seen some online, professional and DIY alike. It would be good to hear from people who have had these installed on the QQ and anyone who can point me in the right direction.

Secondly, any decent dog guard/boot protectors that fit the QQ well that don’t cost and arm and a leg like the official Nissan boot protector.

Firstly Welcome. Try using the “Search” Area by adding your requirement as these subjects have been discussed before. Regarding the Alloys yes there are Protectors that do protect, but they rot the Alloys by attacking the material under the protector and the term for this is called “White Worm”. To eliminate this means extensive costly machining. You can also trying searching the web - Dave

Yer I’ve gone of the idea now. They sounded like a great idea especially after seeing people having them professionally done but I’ve read plenty of reviews and feedback regarding the 19” diamond cut alloys and the problems with that dreadful looking white worm.

Looks like it’s best just to utilise all the cameras and park more suitably, or best just let the QQ park itself

When I changed my tyres I selected ones with built-in rim protectors. Don't know how effective they were - I never kerbed a wheel...

I've seen tyres that protrude over the rim to give more protection and they could be a possibility. But you're right, the best way is to never kerb your tyres haha.

PCBatman, just a Tip which has been mentioned before, try using your Camera when parking near or alongside a Kerb it does help. Over here we have a lot of Car Parks with Spiral Drive Ups these can make you Dizzy but also the corners of each floor level can be a problem. Under the front of the QQ is a small plastic plate (under the Fog Light) and often you here this scrapping the corner Kerbs and you think “Oh No” my Alloys - Dave
