Other car manufacturers seem to be able to get cars to market much faster than Nissan. Not only do we see these long protracted delivery times for the Qashqai but where's the Ariya?
Decent fully electric cars are "flooding" the market now - for example the Hyundai Ionic 5 has come in cheaper than expected starting at £36,995 for what appears to be roughly equivalent to N-Connecta trim. I somehow can't imagine the Ariya will start so competitively?

@gloucester. When I pre-ordered the J12 I was told the car I had seen was some kind of a mock-up ... not the actual car that would be delivered.
That might explain why it takes Nissan this long ... maybe the problems with the new design are yet to be ironed out !???
Dunno about the Ariya, but they should indeed hurry ... the competition is heating up and will be fierce ... first to market will be the ultimate winners in the EV race !

Yes - but bear in mind the Qashqai was originally expected to be a 2020 release.

" Qashqai was originally expected to be a 2020 release"
Pandemic ? But that sure does not bode well for Nissan !
The Nissan Rogue *did* make it in the US in time and seems to have the exact same digital dashboard as well as infotainment system !
It seems that Europe was simply late ... as always ?

This was a typical comment in the Press on the QQ & Ariya Delays - Dave
It would seem that Nissan’s plans to begin production on the all-new 2021 Qashqai this October 2020 have been delayed all the way until the middle of next year. This information comes stated that Nissan hadn’t actually confirmed a particular date for the start of production. Still, prototypes of the 2021 Nissan Qashqai / Rogue Sport have been spotted in public throughout the summer. This delay is largely due to the fallout from the coronavirus pandemic, which has hindered development and changed the company’s priorities. The delay could also give Nissan more time to figure out what to do in case Britain doesn’t secure a post-Brexit deal with the European Union.
Two thirds of the 500,000 cars produced by Nissan in Sunderland annually are Qashqai crossovers.
In Nov 20 it was stated that the QQ Mild Hybrid would start production in Spring 21, now it states Summer 21 - All Models.
The New QQ e-Power is stated as Spring 22
In Oct 20 the Ariya was supposed to be launched in 2nd Half 21 and is now stated as Winter 21/ 22.
The Ariya was announced as scheduled to begin Japanese production in July 2020 before going on sale in Japan in mid-2021 before going on sale in Europe, North America, and China by the end of 2021. Japanese automaker Nissan is putting its upcoming and long-awaited fourth electric vehicle, the Nissan Ariya, through its final paces at the company’s snowy Hokkaido Proving Ground ahead of a planned mid-2021 release in Japan.

"Summer 21" ... can be that production starts in ... september.
What about the shortage of chips, prices of steel and other resources these days ?
Question for me is also ... how long will it take to produce all pre-ordered vehicles *and* all pre-orders ... weeks, months ???

I've had an invite to go and see the new QQ on May 20th at my local Nissan dealership, I was told the model they are showing is the Tekna+

Malvern_man, if you are really interested in the New QQ I would go. Here was also planned to be the “Premier” Model but it was also a Tekna + well worth a close look at - Dave

@malvern_man.
FWIW I pre-ordered the J12 Tekna+ version.
They really got me there.
I thought I was going to see the "Premiere Edition", but Nissan was smarter ... they showed the Tekna+ level at the dealer(s) and ... that sold me.
But I got a very good price I guess ? (about a 15% reduction on MSRP) .
IMHO the Tekna+ version is worth it.
Good luck.
