I don't think the 1.3 engine is an improvement. It delivers less power - 130 against 160 for my 1.6 N Connecta - and produces the same emissions, so where is the benefit? I'm still chewing over what to do. Things are never simple!
I would recommend a test drive.
The 1.3 (160) is superb

Terry / Mike, I was going to write exactly the same comment last night. As Mike states give the 160PS a Test Drive I believe you will find it pleasing. Yesterday in the German Autobild was a comment on their Fleet Renault Kadjar’s (18 months old / 65,000kms) with exactly the same motor and their main point was the excellent motor ✅ - Dave 😊

The salesman quoted 130, but looking more closely I think he was wrong and it's 140 - still not as powerful as my 1.6. I understand the 160 is only available as automatic, which I don't want.

Correct - bear in mind they're running out of cars having delayed the launch of the 2020 for the best part of a year.

You could always buy one secondhand.

.
This is the first automatic I’ve own, although I have driven plenty on foreign holidays (Cadillac, Toyota, Holden, VW, etc.)
This 7 speed 'box is quite simply the best I’ve ever driven.
Maybe it’s because I’m an old fart but really enjoying the engine/gearbox combo and sticking to 60-ish on the motorway gives me 50+mpg

Ive just had an N-TEC 160 auto for a week as my new Tekna was in the dealership yet again , and is due to go again in January.
Time to get rid - but thats another tale.

Agreed - the auto box was nice , very slick, however 2 points for me :
The car was much thirstier than my 160 manual Tekna , and when coming to a stop and immediately pulling away , the box seemed a little confused as to what gear to use , and the end result was front wheel scrabble for traction.

Otherwise , very good

Totally agree with that and understand! But I do go a bit faster than 60. :D

No, I really don't want an automatic. Just had a test drive of a 1.3 140 and found it was better than I thought it would be. Going to give it a blast on the motorway tomorrow. To be honest, the dealer has made me a really good offer. They seem desperate to make sales, not surprisingly the way things are at the moment. Think I'll go for the 1.3.N-Motion manual. It means I get the three-year warranty and a few other goodies in the deal.

Anyone getting a 1.3 140 might like to consider a numberplate to match.

[ 14 O ] is presently for sale - for a touch under £100k !!!

After much self-debate and dithering, I've bought a new 1.3 140 N-Motion. Took delivery today. I got a very good deal indeed - I think they are desperate to sell cars, understandably so with all that is going on at the moment. It's done eight miles and I've just added another 13, but with Lockdown Mk III it won't be going far for a while. Still, it seems great and I've got my three years' warranty, etc. I'll report on how I feel about the car when I've added a few more miles, but don't hold your breath! There's no doubt it's a good time to buy if you're thinking of changing. One thing I did find on this freezing day - the heated seats are superb. :D
