Hi guys, im new to the forum, and in dire need of some advice.
The mother in laws 2014 1.2 Quashqui failed its MOT 10 days ago on emissions.
The nissan garage she brought it from 8 months ago are struggling to sort it after 2 more failed MOT's, again on the emissions.
So at the moment we are stuck. Does anyone have any ideas on how to sort this problem?.
They say they have plugged into the ecu and its running at its right settings etc, spark plugs have been replaced. All i can think of is that there is still too much fuel being put into the cylinder and is burning to rich.
Any help and advice is very welcome.
Cheers

Does it run rough at idle? If so I would suggest cleaning the intake valves as these can get coked up therefore lack of air.
Make sure there isn't a p0011 fault code in the ecm, if it is then it will require a intake valve timing solenoid
Check engine timing
Could possibly be injectors
Also could be an software issue as some of the 1.6 nissan engines were failing mot and a software update sorted it

A Nissan garage can't fix it? Complain to UK Nissan and go elsewhere.
I assume its petrol? But emissions is an easy one and either over fuelling (metering) as you say or an O2 sensor problem...the latter causing over fuelling?
Diesel is largely DPF and related issues.

It runs nice at idle. Never noticed anyproblem.
I did some research yesterday and it failed last year on the same thing, then passed, so there is a curable problem.
The garage have just got back to her and say they have changed the CAT, is the O2 sensor on the CAT?

Found in the past if petrol or diesel have been used around local then a good blast down a motorway can clean things out does not have to be fast just stay in 4 th and keep revs above 3000 for a 30 min run then turn back pm

Interesting...how much did they charge for the Cat itself. Usually very expensive things.
