DPF issue
I have a 2015 1.5dci with 12000KM on the clock. Recently I ran into the same issue, and the mechanic told me the same thing. (drive 30 min or more at least once a week). Problem is with a hectic schedule, it is not always possible. What do you guys think about an additive like Wynn's Diesel Clean Burn? (see below, page 4, 2nd from the left).http://www.wynns.co.za/Catalogue%202015.pdf

(see below, page 4, 2nd from the left).http://www.wynns.co.za/Catalogue%202015.pdf[/QUOTE] I have tried these wynn's products before, all it does it makes it easier for the car to burn the soot and doesn't always clean it itself. 2 ways of doing this Drive on motorway for 20 minutes to 30 minutes around 2500 revs to 3000 revs orKeep gear low when in town for a drive of say a hour.It should automatic clean itself You should hear a change in engine sound from clear normal diesel sound to rough, like a tractor. That is the regeneration and should use a bit of diesel to do this.Make sure your diesel tank has at least half a tank of diesel. If you go ie. a shop which is around 1 mile from where you live, switch of engine and start engine and keep repeating this it is not helping the dpf to warm up and is continuously building up this soot. It has to go somewhere and heard stories of if you do not put the correct low ash oil in and keep driving short distances it can blow the engine up or completely destroy your engine.I really don't like diesel cars because of this worry, always on the mind.

My Nissan dealership has all sorts of contradictory advice when it comes to DPF. After doing a Service (forced) Regeneration they then advised me to have a motorway run at least once per week. We do that and more usually.
Then when DPF/MIL lights come on, we are to drive it at over 3000 RPM for at least 20 minutes without dropping below that for even a few seconds. That's quite a challenge where we live! Despite this, we have done so and half the time over the last year or so the process has worked first time or second. But then always needs additional work.
We then have ensured we use only the best fuels & low-ash oils, and only drive it for longer distances, and yet still have regular issues. We have been to a DPF specialist, who found that the secondary sensor pipe to the DPF was blocked with carbon.
In time this was not enough and this time the car would not allow a forced regen. At this stage we're best part of £1000 down on this issue over the last 2 years. But it gets worse.
The fault codes on diagnostics then suggest that the cause is that a software update the ECU is needed. On checking further, none is available. The case has all the latest software.
No choice but to go back to Nissan, pay for more diagnostics, and they conculde that the DPF is blocked (thanks for charging for what I already knew) - and that there is only one solution: £2600 for a new DPF filter/unit, including sensors, gaskets, etc and plus yet another oil change!!!!
I escalated the case to Nissan "customer care" (ha!) and all I have is 6+ emails over a week plus saying that someone will get back to me (no timescale & no real insights despite me giving detailed information on the issues). Needless to say, the lack of problem ownership and support in resolving this case means that this Nissan will be the last one I'm ever likely to own.
Does anyone know any way to clean the DPF - which they have personal experience of success in doing so?

DPF management on the J11 model is much better.

When you clean you don't have to blast down motorway drop down your gearbox and drive on motorway at 3000 rpm I used to clean my meriva 1.7 diesel on a 40 mph road when the light came by going into 3 gear and it always worked you don't need fast roads....david
