Cloning it makes no difference to all the damage the thieving little sods will impart on your vehicle whilst breaking into it!

Agreed but if insurance are being silly and not replacing what was insured then a copy of said SD also makes sense along with signs saying SD card not left in car etc.

They can't be cloned. There's a unique hardware ID in the SD card.
