Hi,

I've got a 1.5dci Qashqai and its due for its 2nd service... (approaching 19,000 miles). I've been offered an 'Emissions Control Service' as an optional extra (for £20 or £25 I think) on my service plan?

Is this necessary - or just a way of the dealer making some extra money on my pre-paid plan?!

Thanks in advance,

Peter

Personally wouldn't bother with it. What do they think oil and fuel filters are for....just for show?

My thought was WTF does a normal service do then?
A Tekna, because I admit I need all the help I can get.

That seems to be two votes for 'waste of time' then.... my thinking too.....

Thanks!

All they will do is add an additive into your fuel tank & a pre oil change additive to the engine oil. Mostly unnecessary unless you use your car in extreme conditions or your car is very high mileage. So its a money maker.
