This could be a silly question, but here goes,
I am thinking of replacing reversing lights/indicators/fog lights/number plates with their respective LED counterparts. my question is, do i need to fudge some kind of resister addition or has the world caught up and i can just use direct replacements ?
I also hear its a REAL PAIN to replace indicators/fog lights
Thanks

Just specify CANBUS LEDs as these have the resistors alrdy. I fitted LED (CANBUS) number plate bulbs , took a couple of mins.

I thought resistors were only required for the indicators since the Qashqai doesn't have broken bulb monitoring which would require Canbus bulbs. Would someone please clarify.

I think thats correct, so are we saying CANBUS bulbs only for the indicators ? which should work fine right?

I did a google and it appears there isn't a bulb fail warning for the Quashqai. Using canbus bulbs won't affect the operation, I alrdy had canbus bulbs from my Mini Countryman, fitted them to my Quashqai they work perfectly.

still need to add load resistors for indicators.
well that sucks as I'm not much of a mechanic and value my warranty.

Hi Craig, there are a few past posts on the subject of LED's. Take a look at these Posts attached for example they might help you. We have changed all our internal lights to LED's and also the No. Plate Bulbs but then we changed to a totally new complete LED No. Plate with 20 LED 's - Dave

With the indicators, LEDs have a much lower resistance than incandescent bulbs so unless the flasher relay is dual-purpose, the indicators will flash very fast (like when one of your normal indicator bulbs fail and the remaining flashes at double speed). That's what the resistors do - fool a standard flasher relay into thinking the LEDs have the same resistance as ordinary bulbs. Unfortunately that means there's little power saving because the resistors draw power to simulate load and "waste" it in heat. If Daewar's LED bulbs flash normally that suggests that the relay is LED-compatible and no resistors are needed. I'm sure he'll tell us!
