I wouldn't do as Daewar suggests above as it won't ensure that that you won't have to pay at all. Stuff can work loose all the time, it's not a design fault, it's just the way it is. The garages will be wise to this anyway.

Just dropped the car off. They are going to add a bit of gas in and the dye and then I will have to take it back next week to see if any had leaked. I am not paying for this but then they aren't doing a full re-gas either by the sounds of it. Hopefully we shall see that there is a leak and then they should fix everything including a full re-gas under the warranty, otherwise I guess I shall just have to stump up the cash for a full re-gas myself as they would have proven that there is nothing wrong except that the gas just doesn't last a long as they thought it should.

Do you get the ac issue sorted?
I'm 3 weeks into my j11 14plate tekna and I also hear the "hissing sound" from the vents...then last night the ac kinda shut down..fan still going but not a lot of air coming out even though fan was on full and in my face...my hair wasn't really moving at all..switched it off then back on ...air did chill down but not a lot of fan power

Yes I did get it sorted and covered by the warranty. I finally got them to do a proper investigation with dye and straight away they saw it was leaking so I had the Compressor changes and it fully re-gassed. So if you still have some warranty left get it in quick otherwise it will cost about £700 to get it all fixed or more potentially!

I have mentioned this before our Dealer put our QQ up on a Hyd. Ramp and found "Black" marks on the Silver Condenser which indicated leaks. Photos were taken for Nissan regarding the Guarantee.
Zenthi, good to hear your problem is also solved - Dave ;)

If there is black marks then the condenser is faulty and they should be replacing that straight away under warranty. Hope you get yours sorted.

Hi people. My first post so bare with me. Firstly if your car needs a re gas its got a leak ask any good specialist and he will confirm it. The gas should last a minimum of 3 to 5 years. This new 1234yf gas is rubbish . Having spoken to Trading standards as Nissan are telling me if I don't use the system regularly it will fail it is therefore not fit for purpose After over 12 months the Nissan dealership is now telling me the condenser has failed and is leaking. Suggest like me you threaten them with legal action. Like me you might get it fixed for free. Talk to Trading standards. My Seat Leon was 8 years old had never been re gased and worked perfectly.

Hi Polly, welcome to the Forum. I do not really think that you can say the Air Con Gas R1234yf is "Rubbish" as it is used on most all new cars now and normally the Defect part is a component such as the Condenser as in the QQ. Again this is a known problem from Nissan and should be addressed by them under Guarantee (if not run out). If the Dealer is saying the Condenser is defect and needs replacing then they should do it. Again we had ours changed quickly and FOC.
Why are you threatening Legal Action and using the Trading STDs, has your Guarantee run out or am I missing the point here ?
You Seat had the Older Gas R123a in it and it appears the problem did not exist - Dave ;)

I think its the fit for purpose part. Even if an item is out of warrantee it can be expected to last longer than say 3 years if its not a consumable part. In addition there is now a strong proof of there being an issue with the Condesor, it can only strengthen the case.
