Twelve months ago I bought a 2015 N-tec QQ for £16.5k with 5k on the clock plus the remainder of the Nissan warranty. Yesterday I went back to the same dealer to see what the depreciation was and shocked to find it was only worth £13k with 14k on the clock. This would be the part exchange value on any of the motors on display.

My dilemma is should I stick with my current model and spend on a service, new tyres etc or go for a new QQ at £28k and pay the difference bearing in mind that in 2-3 years time if I want to change my current QQ it will only be worth £7-8k and then fork out a fortune for a new one which will have dramatically gone up in price.

Check out valuation on one or two of car buying sites, and an alternative stealer!
Obviously diesel models will have suffered more in current climate.

I did. Mine is a 1.6dci. Infact Nissan offered me a lower price £12.8 for any of their second hand models. I need to see what they'll offer against a new Tekna.

To be fair a depreciation value of 3.5k is not a lot at all.

That's why dealers are rich all that stock ...most lie for 6 mths before they start to drop price .....most lose 50% or more in 3years...and its the deal part x ....I always bought with no trade in and shopped around until they chased me then I new the price that I was going to pay....but I always sold my cars private....david

Look at PCP deals - might cost you 3k/annum but at least you get a brand new car, in warranty

OK decision made. P/ex my 1.6 N-Tec for a new 1.5 Tekna. Nissan Westway have a deal on this model, If you take out finance they will take £2k off the list price, plus if you swap like for like then an additional £200. You can pay off the finance after 3 months. What I didn't realise is there is also a Tekna+ for an extra £2k. But for full leather seats I can't justify the extra so gone for half leather. The rest of the spec is the same.

Yes I know as soon as you drive off you lose a fortune, but I want to keep this beast. Thanks for your advice folks.
