OK Sorry this post was Nissan Leaf based, but I thought this was worth a mention 🤨
Gloucester, Now the price of the Suzuki you have mentioned is reasonable, but people do tend to grow out of smaller cars especially when Older. We have had quite a few small enjoyable cars and they served their purpose met their needs when both parties were working and two cars were convenient. But now the QQ / SUV design meets more of our needs.

Now I am not biased and our Dealer here has also a Suzuki Dealership, so I do take a look regularly. Now just to fly the Flag I mentioned this week the new Suzuki Swift Extreme Concept Car and it appears it is being shown at the Thailand Motor Expo.
Now that design could be and looks interesting could be back to the Boy Racer Days - Dave 😋

While the Suzuki Swift has a unique character and style, it’s far from the most exciting small car on the market. To give the hatchback some life, Suzuki went to town with a series of bold exterior upgrades.

When comparing above I hadn't realised that the Leaf was such a BIG car.

It's 4490mm long - that's 96mm longer than the present Qashqai. It's slightly narrower at 1788mm compared to 1806, and nearly as high too at 1530/1540/1545mm compared to 1590mm.

The Leaf's boot is comparable with seats up - 400 litres with parcel shelf - 435 litres without, compared to the Qashqai's 430 litres. And it's wider at 1103mm compared to 1096mm.

And of course it's a lot heavier than most Qashqais! (The 4x4s are comparable)

So the Qashqai is the true comparator.

So.......................................

Comparing prices: I'll use similarly named trim levels even though that won't be truly comparable (all includse alloing for the £3,500 government grant and ignore options / accessories):

There is no Visia Leaf so the bargain Qashqai at £20,195/£21,795 clearly wins that battle!

Comparing a Leaf Acenta to a Qashqai Acenta Premium (there isn't an Acenta at the moment) the Leaf costs £26,345 compared to a spread on the Qashqai of £23,100-£24,700 for a manual and £25,650-£26,150 for an auto (a more direct comparison of course)

Comparing a Leaf N-Connecta to a Qashqai N-Connecta the Leaf costs £27,645 compared to a spread on the Qashqai of £24,800-£28,000 for a manual 2WD and £27,350-£27,850 for an auto 2WD. (4WD quite a bit more)

Comparing a Leaf Tekna to a Qashqai Tekna the Leaf costs £29,345 compared to a spread on the Qashqai of £27,145-£30,345 for a manual 2WD and £29,695-£30,195 for an auto 2WD. (4WD quite a bit more)

The Leaf e+ Tekna (which has a much bigger battery) isn't comparable to a Qashqai Tekna+.

So I've eaten my hat! The Leaf costs about the same as a Qashqai. But still won't be getting a Leaf anytime soon... (my low mileage doesn't justify it)

There must be something right despite the comments on the Leaf as it is popular and selling - Dave 😀 And...

Judged by the team at the world's biggest gadget magazine and website Stuff.tv, the Stuff Gadget Awards recognise excellence across 20 different product categories. Previous 'Car of the Year' winners have included the Jaguar I-Pace and Tesla Model X.

Some facts on the 2020 US Nissan Leaf - Dave 🙂

“For 2020, Nissan has improved the LEAF with added safety and convenience features including standard Nissan Safety Shield 360 technology. Nissan LEAF S and SV also feature a new 8-inch color touchscreen display, which was previously available on LEAF PLUS. The 2020 LEAF also comes with a new sound – the car's two pedestrian safety sounds receive updates in tone and volume. For the U.S. market, LEAF makes a constant tone (known as "Canto," derived from the Latin verb for "I sing") for forward movement under 18.6 mph and a pulsing chime when reversing.”

“Since its debut in 2010, the all-electric Nissan LEAF has continued to turn heads and garner accolades. Brazilian publication Quatro Rodas recently chose the Nissan LEAF as its Best Purchase Among Electric Cars up to 300,000 Reais. Launched in Brazil in 2019, the Nissan LEAF’s cabin space, cargo capacity and impressive driver-assistance technology are just some of the features that the publication highlighted. Quatro Rodas also noted that an increase in the number of LEAF dealers — from seven to 44 — is a big plus when it comes to aftersales services.” - Dave 😏
