I just checked and nowhere does it tell me on my 1.2 2014 QQ what the service intervals are. I do low mileage and take it every 12 months anyway so I'm always well under whatever they are.

I don't have a proper service book. As I think I once mentioned previously, Westway Nissan say they don't use them anymore and it's all on the computer. When I complained (I bought my car 2nd hand), they got a generic service book and retrospectively filled it in, but unlike previous service books which actually list schedules, this is just a blank book of places for the dealer to stamp.

Oh, my bad guys! My last car had a oil level indication on startup which I didn't found on my QQ. I therefor wrongly assumed that that there was no oil sensor at all! Tnx for correcting this.

The maintenance plan would (or should) have been glued into pages 18-19 of your warranty booklet/maintenance record, but as you
don't have it, here are the details;

Cheers, at the next service I'll get them to glue that page in as it's blank. Like I said though, they insist they don't do service books any more and it's all "on the computer".

The only warning on the car was the service so either the oil warning lights were not working or the dealership are telling lies to hide behind the warranty

Hi Davearm, If you don’t check your dipstick now and then this can happen, having said that it’s likely the oil was above the minimum mark on the dipstick, if so there is no way that missing an oil change by 5k as caused this catastrophic engine failure.
Nissan know this but looking at it from their position they aren’t going fit you a new engine when they have evidence to support their case.
I know this doesn’t help you now but while the car is covered by a warranty, you have to play by their rules.

Oil changes used to be at 3000 miles, then I remember them extended to 6000, then 10,000, then 12500, then 18,000 or 20,000 miles on some vehicles. Flexible on some that have the on-board monitoring technology.

Still, on the K9K engine, 18,000 miles is the MAXIMUM with a shorter interval for the [often confusing] 'severe' driving cycle. Irrespective of what anyone thinks about the potential damage caused or not caused by exceeding the 18,000 mile interval, they commit to providing a warranty as long as the owner commits to servicing no later than their recommended maximum service interval, to their schedule and using Nissan parts or parts of recognised brands of equivalent quality and suitability.

Owned and drivers have a responsibility to do daily, weekly checks and all official scheduled service. If that responsibility is not discharged diligently, there may be consequences, as seen here.
