The QashQai (1.5 turbo diesel) is 15 months old and has done 41000 miles and broke down last week.
The car got towed to Nissan and they have advised the Conrod has damaged the engine and turbo and they will replace them for £10k.
Unfortunately the 36000 service has not happened so Nissan are unwilling to cover under wArranty or indeed make a goodwill contribution.
The dealership have stated the service would have changed the oil, which may have helped the issue and are claiming it is probably a service issue other people I have spoken to have advised it could well be a manufacting issue. I pointed this out to Nissan and they are still unwilling to help.
Has any other QashQai drivers had similar issues or can anyone suggest a way forward £10k sounds a hell of a lot of money to spend.
Any help / advice gratefully received.

You are on thin ice, as the Nissan Guarantee requires you to conform to the service requirements (as specified in your car's documentation).

Nissan make a commitment to you with their warranty. In turn you commit to service the car every year or 18,000 miles, whichever comes first.
To expect Nissan to cover the damage to your car when you have neglected to change the oil for 23,000 miles is, I'm afraid, wishful thinking on your part. This is what happens if servicing is badly neglected, as in this case. When exactly were you aiming to service it, if at all?

£10,000 for a new K9K engine fitted to your car, even with the £1666.67 VAT included, is a bit salty. However, try and push for some extra discount and service the car at least as often as recommended in future.

41,000 miles... 15 months... that 683 miles a week..

You say Nissan said it should of been serviced at 36000 miles... engine now has 41k miles... that's 7 weeks / 5k overdue in mileage terms... which is not a lot really...

If the car has not alerted due to low oil before the issue, its more than likely a manufacturing defect than due to the older oil... Oil quality is so good these days ..... more so on a engine which is doing such mileage..

Unfortunately, their get out card is the mileage, the first thing they will check as you have found out is mileage...

I would be requesting a meeting with the dealer principal for a chat.

Thanks RickT
The dealer principal has buried his head in the sand and referred my complaint to Nissan Uk. Nissan Uk are stating that the dealership believe that it might be a service issue so it’s not there problem.
It’s all very frustrating and I am furious about the lack of customer care from Nissan, they certainly are poor to deal with

Its tricky... years ago i friend didnt change his oil filter for some time and the seal on the can filter split losing all the oil causing the engine to run dry... not saying this happened here but this "could" be the type of factor they say is the cause..

What was the mileage when the first service was done ?

The 1st service took place at 20500 miles, the annoying thing is the service reminder on the dashboard came on 18000 miles after the last service.
Nissan have advised the 2nd service should have taken place at 36000 as it recommends that in the service booklet. We have relied on the dashboard warning light which is out of sync with their recommendations and came on at circa 38500 miles.

The QQ doesn’t have a low oil sensor/warning.

But it does have a 'low oil pressure' warning light.
It also has an optical oil management monitor that should bring up a warning light if the oil becomes degraded beyond its useful life.
