Hi we have just had our 2008 Acenta 1.5 serviced by a main dealer they say that the cambelt is due for replacement A.S.AP we have only had this car
for less than a year from the same main dealer they serviced the car before we purchased the car it had 77000 on the clock should the belt have been changed at this time also they reccomend that we change the brake fluid looking forward to your replies

Looking online the recommended schedule is every 60k or 5 years. As the car is a 2008 it will be 10 years old, so if it was last done in 2013 then it's due another cam belt.

As for brake fluid, every 2 years is normal, so again as it's 10 years old this year, sounds about right.

Cambelt is not changed as part of any service or service plan. It is chargeable and down to the owner to have done.

Ok....and it would have been 9 years old, so not due a cambelt or brake fluid. The car was first registered in 2008, so this year it is 10 years old and due a cambelt and brake fluid.

If you don't want to do it, it's your call. However if the belt snaps and the engine ends up scrap then you took that risk. Personally, in your shoes...I would just do it.

The car did not need these things when you bought it, but it needs them now.

But don't get it done at a main dealer as they will probably charge double the price of a local independent.
