Is it possible to unlock/open the boot without unlocking the doors? I don't want to be loading stuff in the boot and have someone jump in the car and drive off or worse reverse over me!!!

You could foot a krooklock or similar to secure steering wheel.

I have a 2016 J11 and with the keys in my pocket, I can open the boot without the doors unlocking. If that is what you mean?

To the best of my knowledge unless you have just been in the car and started it before loading/unloading the boot, nobody can start the car unless the key is inside the vehicle with them. It is I believe illegal to leave a vehicle running in the UK unless you are inside it and if it were stolen the insurance company wouldn't pay out as they see this as personal negligence. So unless you have started the vehicle yourself by entering it first you should be safe.

If you use the little pimply rubberised button on the tailgate it unlocks the doors, but I've found pressing the larger rubberised boot lid release next to it opens just the boot. Mind you I had the alarm go off when doing it once so you might like to test it first!!

I use this way to access the boot all the time as I keep my keys in my pocket. On occasion I get the alarm activating also, a quick fiddle to find the keys, a dab on the unlock button & alarm cancelled. Strange how its so random though.

If your car has the anti-hijacking feature and it is enabled, you can open either front door or the boot by pressing the button on the handle once which will just open that particular door.
