I was unfortunate enough to have a large stone hit the windscreen on my 1.5 Tekna, (thrown up by the wheels of two passing lorries in front of me). It hit the screen exactly in the driver's vision area and as well as taking a small chunk of glass out of the screen it also cracked in 2 places. Obviously not repairable, and quickly got it's replacement authorised by my insurance company.

The company uses Autoglass as standard for their glass replacements, I was a bit wary having read on here and other sites about things not quite working correctly afterwards (sensors etc), however I need not have worried as they did a brilliant job on it. The screen was replaced at one of their 'Calibration' Centres and everything is spot on and works precisely as before, i.e. the rain sensors, light sensors, road sign recognition and auto high beam.

I naturally had to pay the £ 75.00 excess to have it done but I think it was well worth it.

Good result and nice one Autoglass!

Hopefully so.

Interestingly, Autoglass insisted that in order to carry out the replacement I had to make sure I emptied the car of everything and ensure that it had a full tank of fuel! I presume this had something to do with the Calibration of the Sensors.

Really struggling to get Autoglass to fit me a new windscreen. They're quoting a shortage in glass for the Qashqai plus some trim for the window as I have Panoramic roof. It's been several weeks now and the crack has expanded to across 50% of windscreen now.

Where do you live contact auto glass head office. They could be telling you that because they don’t want to do it where you live

Northampton. It's been hard work. They only have limited areas they can do the work. I'm waiting for them to call me back once the item is in stock and I've opted to drive to the Bedford branch to have the work done.

I had my screen replaced at Birmingham, not too far from you really, it is one of their calibration centres. The guy there said they do quite a few Qashqai’s.

We went and did a bit of shopping in the city centre while ours was being done, only 20 minutes walk away.

Cheers all. I'll call them again tomorrow and see what they say. I'll send them a photo on Twitter if I get no joy!
