1.2 Auto performance.

Hi,
I’m new here and hoping that I might find some information to settle what engine to choose. I was hoping to purchase the 1.2 petrol auto (unfortunately I need an auto and it’s the only option available) but I am concerned that it may be underpowered especially in the auto format.
How have others found it, what can you compare it to?
I currently have a 1.5 turbo mini, I obviously do not expect a similar performance. But I am contemplating the Pug 3008 as well, which seems to be well a well reviewed 1.2 auto (on spec it is more powerful than the Nissan).
The QQ is on the list due to the value for money, compared to the 3008, as larger dealer discount is available.
I’m not really interested in a Diesel for many reasons but it still may have to be an option if the 1.2 petrol auto is poor.
Thanks in advance.
Matt

There are many threads on here and Juke forums about the 1.2 engine. A close friend and QQ addict has to have autos and despite his niece running a reliable 1.2 QQ he chose the 1.6 diesel auto.

Your money, your choice but never has caveat emptor been more relevant

Thank you for the reply, so the 1.2 is a bit under powered then and to be honest cost isn’t the issue, as the QQ is quite cheap in most guises especially with the discount available.
I’ve been warned off the 1.5, because of its reliability, so it’s the 1.6 D, if I choose it over the Pug 3008.
Thanks again.

I have had the 1.2 CVT since Dec and find it quite sprightly. My previous car was a 1.6 6 speed auto and I think this QQ is better. I did a run of 120 miles on Saturday and the readout was 50.5 mpg. This years insurance is also reasonable.

Nowt wrong with the 1.5D engine; very well accepted and widely used by Nissan & Renault of course; other recent post
indicates 1.2Auto (X Tronic) being discontinued.

I mentioned the 1.5 issue as some have alluded to flywheel issues, thanks for the feedback though.

Thanks for the 1.2 auto information, I am more confused than ever, that you find it to be sprightly!
Especially if it may be being discontinued.

I’ve been warned off the 1.5, because of its reliability,
I'm on my second car with the 1.5dci engine and they have both been perfectly reliable (over 50K miles and on average over 55mpg)

I'm on my fourth 1.5dci and never had any issues, first three went over 50k,one I have now has only done 5k but is the smoothest drive yet 😀 🚘
