Do I buy a diesel 1.5 quashqai 67 reg new shape
Or for the same price (albeit 16 reg) a 1.6 petrol (which are like hens teeth to find)
I don't want the 1,2 as the horror stories have put me off completely,
I do 6k a year mainly short trips
Your comments appreciated thanks.

If you can’t make your own mind up then maybe you should just stick to what you’ve already got or had previously.
You’ll get people on here telling you that a diesel is no good for constant short trips/low mileage but you can honestly take that with a pinch of salt. I’m four years in to ownership of my 1.5dci and do mostly low mileage journeys to and from work, relatives and shopping. 6 to 8k miles per year and the engine is a dream. DPF issues with the QQ are a thing of the past. The car sorts out DPF regeneration automatically whilst you drive, and it works a treat! At the end of the day it’s your choice.

Agree re my DPF experience too; you'll obviously get much better mpg with the 1.5dci; expensive in some cities such
as Khanistan's London.

Hi Picasso, I recently bought a 2017 new shape 1.5dci, I do a similar mileage to you.
I contemplated the petrol very briefly but the economy put me off, I’m delighted so far with over 64mpg attainable at motorway speeds, the car is very quiet for a diesel also.
Hope you enjoy it, let us know.

Diesels may give problems at trade-in time. They would have done for me - the salesman was visibly relieved to find out it was petrol.
Previous to the Qashqai I had diesels but I don't think my 2.5 mile commute was doing them any favours particularly once I stopped going up to Shropshire once or twice a month. Hence the switch to petrol then.

You are asking on simply comparing a Diesel to a Petrol but there must be other factors, both cars will not be the same spec or may be they are.
But I would be looking at the spec difference maybe one has higher spec so is the better car in that sense but as for Petrol V Diesel that is a choice only you can make.
I have a Diesel now all my previous cars have been Petrol apart from one Ford Mondeo on 05 plate, I find the Diesel is pretty quite and very good for long journeys but I also find it good on short journeys.
