Hi everyone Iam doing some research into the cvt transmission failures at low mileage .
I have contacted several Automatic specialists and got them to email me their findings of which there is a common problem
With these cvt failing something to do with bearings getting loose .
Nissan do not repair only replace at a cost of £7760.00 which is almost as much as the car is worth now.
I am going down the consumer rights act to get them to pay for this or get a refund for the whole price I paid for car £13000.00
Mine is 2012 plate so is no longer under warranty.
It is up to me to prove this is a common problem so I need all your help !
We need to be like America and Canada people all got together to complain so Nissan could not ignore this they changed their policy and made good all theses cvt and gave a 10 year guarantee to give customers peace of mind.
If everyone messages me with your own story even if they did replace under warranty or at no cost to you I just need to get numbers of how many people this has affected.
To repair at auto garages is around £3000.00 this is a huge cost for us customers for a CVT that was made with a defect.
Nissan uk need to follow suit and do right by its loyal customers.

Hi Jane, please take a look at the attached post which might well have some information of interest. You can also try using “Search” by just entering different versions of “CVT......” as there are more comments available - Dave :D

Hello.
My 2012 1.6 n tec+ CVT gearbox was replaced under warranty at about 9000 miles.
The mechanic said to me that they had replaced another 4 before mine.
It was done in 5 days.
Hope this helps. Good luck.

Good luck with this and hope you are successful. Please keep us up to date. I read about the situation in the USA and was appalled that we don't have the same extended warranty in the UK since there are the same problems here. It has taken away the pleasure of owning an otherwise nice car which I now find I am listening and watching for something to go wrong.

Please take note if using the USA warranty in your defence...

https://owners.nissanusa.com/nowners/na ... ntyContent

"Every Nissan is backed by a 36-month/36,000-mile limited vehicle coverage and a 5-year/60,000-mile limited powertrain coverage. 2003-2010 Vehicles equipped with a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) also have a 10-year /120,000 mile CVT limited warranty extension."

Note the bit in bold, it says CVT vehicles between 2003 and 2010 have the 10 year CVT warranty as they admitted the CVT manufactured in this date range had problems. 2011 onwards are not covered by this.

Group Litigation (Class Action in the USA) is definitely the way forward it stops the company try to pass off the fault as a one off.

2015 Tekna diesel automatic. Had the car 18 months and in this time: wheel bearings replaced, battery replaced, oxygen sensor replaced, heat sensor replaced and now gear box being replaced. 33,000 miles. Not great.
