Just over a year ago (whilst under warranty) my radio started to "cut out" (ie silence) for about 30secs and would then continue, after initially suspecting DAB reception realised that same thing happened when playing CD. Took to dealer who applied latest software update and all seemed OK until a couple of weeks ago (that is for almost a year) when the same thing started to happen again. Spent a bit more time diagnosing the problem and whilst sometimes all is OK for 30mins + eventually a "cut out" occurs and all returns after approx. 30secs. This repeats every approx 5mins until after 6 failures the whole connect system reboots itself. After which sometimes it carries on for a period without problems, on other occasions it starts the whole process straight away !
Returned to dealer (now out of warranty) who advise that the software is up-to-date. They did a "factory rest" but the problem retuned after a couple of days.
It's now being suggested that I need a replacement Connect system at a cost of £1.5K, Nissan have agreed to pay half the cost but his seems rather excessive.
Has anyone else had similar problems and (hopefully) found a cheaper solution ?!

When posting queries, if not included in your signature area, always give model year, besides engine type. :)

We have exactly the same problem, system cuts out no matter whether DAB or FM, sat nav and cd, after a few times whole system reboots. Garage say no faults found! I have emailed Nissan direct, so many people have the same faults. They need to issue a recall campaign to rectify the fault. However this will not happen unless everyone contacts Nissan direct.

Mine does the same. a software update did not fix it.
Its going back next week for a new unit under warranty.

Not very happy a the dealer is 75 miles away and a four hour round trip.

I complained to Nissan and so far have been given the next service free but if the new unit still cuts out I'll be back on the phone.

@drewk1 - how did you persuade the dealer / Nissan to replace the unit under warranty?

Mine (2015 Tekna 1.2 DIG-T Auto) has the same problem - sound cuts out regardless of Radio / CD / Bluetooth and sometimes the whole head unit reboots.

Westway Nissan in Mill Hill (North London) updated the firmware from D302 to D554 in January, but it hasn't helped. It's going back in tomorrow for them to have another look, but as it's an intermittent problem I doubt if they'll find anything - it can go for a week without any problems, then cut out three times in a short drive. My Nissan Cared4 warranty runs out in two weeks so I want to get it fixed once and for all!

Happy to join forces with other owners in contacting Nissan UK if that helps get them to take the issue seriously.

The dealer said if the software update didn't cure the fault they would put a warranty claim in for a new unit and it was agreed by Nissan.
Didn't really have to do anything.
I complained to Nissan as I have had three warranty issues so far on a car less than three years old and was getting a bit fed up having to return to the dealer which is a four hour round trip.
Next service free for my inconvenience and if I still get the same issue with the new unit I shall be on the phone back to Nissan.
The dealer, Desira Norwich have been excellent, fixing everything without a problem.

Thanks, mine is with WestWay Nissan right now, who seemed quite sympathetic. They're going to check it again and if it's a hardware issue they'll either replace it or send it to France to get it repaired (leaving me with a hole in my dashboard for two weeks). As you can imagine, I've said I'd prefer a replacement.

Hi,

I'm also having problems which started back in November 2018 (loss of DAB signal to start) but eventually progressed to Unit shutting itself off and rebooting, Call cutting out whilst using hands free and loss of sound when streaming music via Bluetooth via my Samsung Galaxy A5. I took the car into Nissan on 21st December 2018 2 days prior the cared4 warranty expiring and they initially diagnosed a fault with the unit and said it would need replacing (which would have cost £2500) but that this would be covered under warranty. Anyway to cut a long story short (and trust me it is long story, the unit was sent to France for repair leaving me with a hole in my dashboard for 7 weeks). When the unit was returned the same faults were present and this is apparently following a software upgrade. Nissan are now saying that the unit is not faulty and that it's due to "external factors" which they explained means changes in digital radio frequencies. They won't replace the unit, they have offered to reimburse me with the cost of a SatNav up to the value of £100. This has been going on for nearly 4 months now and all I'm being told by Nissan is that it is a National Issue which they are investigating with Bosch and there are numerous manufacturers asides from Nissan affected. They don't know what the problem is or how to fix it so basically I just have to put up with it...but it's top of their priorities and as soon as they have a solution they will let me know.

I have asked if they would reimburse me the cost of taking the unit to an independent car electronics specialist for assessment but they have refused. I have raised complaints with the dealership I brought it from (WestWay Nissan Stourbridge), Nissan Customer Services, Nissan Cared4 Warranty, My local dealership in Loughbrough and RCI Finance (as the car is on finance I have been advised I have certain protection just like if you brought a TV on a credit card). I'm really at the end of my tether I was going to sell the car at the end of the year anyway and had every intention of buying a newer model as asides from this issue I do think the Qashqai is a great car but this experience has really changed my opinion.
