Hi all, I was driving along and my j10 2.0 petrol Tekna just cut out on me. It will start then rev needle will bounce around, engine sounds starved of something and then cuts out after less than 10 seconds. I have no lights on dash nor any fault codes.
The car will run and drive If I unplug the maf and then won't cut out at all. It just stays in limp mode and won't rev over 2500rpm.
Ive checked the fuel pump and can hear it once I turn the ignition on.
Any have any ideas please before I get it to a garage???

The MAF sounds like at fault. It is possible to clean them with isopropyl alcohol if there are contaminants on them but chances are its had it. They are very very simple to change, so it would be worth buying a new one.

Thanks, I've took this maf out and gave it a spray of electrical contact cleaner and it made no difference. I have ordered a new one but find it very strange that the eml hasn't come on and there are no fault codes at all.
I really appreciate your input.

A code has now come up for P0113. Intake air temperature circuit hight input. Does the maf do this job or is it another sensor?

The MAF has/is an Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor. This web page explains it & give some ideas to cause.
