Sorry ! Just checked pic 3 / point #3 it should have read 40mm long not 30mm, but I am sure you would have found this during assembly - Dave 😤

Following on from what Holdover was says about the 17inch X Trail space saver wheel fitting, were there any problems regarding the X-Trail wheel being the same offset as the QQ wheel ?

I forgot to upload a photo of mine.....

As you can see it all fits nicely... but the higher profile tyre makes it a tight squeeze in the wheel well (They are available smaller, I never checked before ordering though).

I got some flexible corrugated convoluted tubing on eBay to protect the wiring loom.

As I got a full X-Trial spare kit, the jack was slightly longer so I removed about 4cm of additional foam at the top of the jack position to get a flush fit.

First post here - be gentle with me :D

My 69 plate Tekna is on the way to my local dealer from another in the group - spare wheel is deal-breakingly important to me so I want to be sure its fine.

Phatboy - looks good. A few questions if I may
  • Can you advise the part number you orgered for the X-Trail wheel ?
When you say it's "tight" - how tight ?
Does this solution lose any boot height - or is it only the 16" wheel that makes the subwoofer sit high?

Thanks in advance

Terry

Hi Terry!
- Unsure of part number, as I got it through eBay. It was identical to the one that was in a loan 2017 X-Trial I had though.
- It needed a gentle push down to sit to the bottom of the wheel well
- No boot height lost, the lower lining still fits perfectly flat. The 16" spare with the subwoofer would make it sit high though

Cheers
Tim

I know this subject has been done to death but here's my solution which arrived today.

https://www.thewheelshop.co.uk/17-space-saver-spare-wheel-tool-kit-fits-nissan-qashqai.html

£159.99 new - plus a couple of quidsworth of spiral protection for the Bose cable (good call Tim)

The existing foams are used - didn't fancy paying £25 for a new right side one that would wrap around slightly better.

It's a 17" so the Bose fits neatly inside and the lower (soft) floor goes back in it's correct position.

In fact with a 135/90 on it, the rolling radius is actually closer to the full-size standard wheels than the official 16" Nissan option for the QQ (both are within quidelines so it's a moot point but it is "tidy")

The existing retaining bolt fitted fine and all the supplied tools fitted in the left hand foam although the jack need a bit of a shove into the foam to sit right down - I may cut that a bit later.

All in all highly recommended for a "no messing solution"

Can confirm the 17" X-Trail wheel fits fine on the QQ. 1x new 19" Michelin tyre on the way to replace the buggered one, and the space saver filling in until then :(

Gentlemen, I've just been looking through this thread and the photos in some of the posts; they're really helpful; although I do need to ask a question. My 17, inch wheel & tyre stand a wee bit high in the well, Are those foam or polystyrene surrounds there to eliminate the slight gap either side of the tyre? and would my lower boot wheel cover still fit in if I got some of those surrounds? I assume they sit above the wheel well either side? They would probably make the lower boot wheel cover sit nicer without that wee bit of play-movement up-and-down in the cover. now I need to shop around for those wrap arounds .
