My 2016 plate Qashqai's manufacturers warranty runs out in June and I would like to renew it. I purchased it as a second user vehicle and despite asking the Nissan dealership they don't want to know. I telephoned Nissan CS and asked about extending my warranty but they say that the forth year warranty has to be arranged via a Nissan dealership but no one seems interested. Has anyone any experience of organizing a forth year warranty via Nissan?

Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Just purchased my QQ, a 2014 car from a main dealer, and it came with 2 year warranty and 2 years servicing so they must be able to offer it at a cost. I am surprised your local dealer does not offer it as, surely it would almost guarantee you servicing the car at that dealer.

I too had issues getting a price from my NMDwhich was the supplying dealer and by the time I got it and decided the price had gone up so I got a Motoreasy warranty. Not had the use it yet and hopefully I won’t need to. Only got it as I have the xtronic auto box.

Ah the CVT gearbox :D I also have the xtronic gear box, and my previous car a B Class Mercedes also had the CVT gearbox. I did nearly 100k miles in that car and providing the gearbox oil is changed regularly you shouldn't have a problem. Personally I think they are a good system and are also used in most hybrid autos.

Qashowner, You say you have the CVT. What mileage are you at and have you had any problems with it?

On my B Class, I did just short of 100,000 miles no problems at all, my current QQ is at 35,000 miles. I must admit that the service book that comes with the QQ is a little sparse on service details. Hence I knew the CVT box on the Merc needed oil replacing every 40,000 miles. QQ only states minor or major service.

Qashowner, That is good to see that you have done 35000 on your QQ CVT box. I would still like an extended warranty in 18 months time if I keep the car as the cost of replacement is very high. Having read reports especially from the USA and the fact that Nissan have discontinued the CVT in favour of a dual clutch auto I am still quite a bit concerned.

Look at this, as I said most hybrids use CVT gear box https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_a ... nsmissions

The reports I read from the USA including the lawsuits seem a few years ago, and CVT gearboxes have been around for a long time. By the way, when I sold my B Class it had 125000 miles of which I had done the 100k.
