Bonnet stay part question

Hello,

So my other half was being helpful and topping up my screenwash for me.. when he went to pull the bonnet stay out of the panel in the engine bay by the lights the plastic mould for the hole fell through to the under tray.. I’ve added a picture I found on the internet.

Anyone know what the proper term or part number for the stupid plastic bit is!? I’ve been to Nissan twice physically showed them where I mean and ordered the bit the parts guy thought it was but both times it was the wrong one...

Any help would be great! :)

You would think the dealership would know the correct part number, doesn't give you a lot of faith in Nissan. Get yourself some Bonnet struts to hold the bonnet up, then you don't need the bonnet stay! I expect a pair of bonnet struts on ebay will be cheaper than a bit of plastic from Nissan.

Good luck

Doug

Jess, you have confused me, we have a QQ J11 2014 Model and have never seen a Plastic Part in this hole. The Bonnet Stay has a pressed on Plastic Part that just locates into the QQ Body Hole or have I misunderstood - Dave 😉
The Body Stay with Pressed on Plastic Part located in Hole :

The Bonnet Hole (no Plastic Part) :

The Plastic Part on the Stay :

Years ago due to the weight of the Bonnet we installed a Strut Kit with Hydraulic Cylinders a real good investment !
If you have time and interest then take a read 🧐

Dave, from the op's query, I would suggest it is the plastic bit you so eloquently show. It may have fallen off the end of the bonnet stay.

Qashowner, you could well be correct - Thanks !. Normally this Part is a pretty good pressed fit on the rod, but if the rod was still located in the hole and the Bonnet was raised with force you could well be correct that the Plastic Part was ripped off - Dave ☹️

If it is the Plastic Part perhaps this is the way to go. Contact some Scrap Yards and buy a complete Rod second hand or purchase a Strut Kit - Dave 😉

Welcome to this forum

Why can't you find one at a dealer?

Hi Guys , I was disappointed that my 2016 QQ st did not come standard with bonnet struts ( the Bonnet is a real solid hunk of metal ) I purchased my pair for around 35$nz plus freight.. and they fitted straight off. I purchased mine from either wish or aliexpress , cant remember Best wishes Paul

Kiwi Paul, if you are interested in History take a look at this Long Post on the Bonnet Struts. The original intention was to knock a set up for the Forum, but then a member found a Kit in Russia and a Batch was purchased - after all these years they still work perfect. The Kits then started to appear all over, Accessory Dealers here, AliExpress, eBay etc. IMHO one of the better additions to the QQ for a minimal expense and installation time - Dave 😊
