The trick is to put a rubber O-ring on the switch - makes it harder to turn but stops the problem you're having. One of the first mods I did to mine.

I've just written a thread on comparing my old Merc to a QQ and the light switch is my only gripe with QQ so far, not a good design.

I’m really surprised at this, as I don’t really understand how it can happen.
Are you unconsciously twisting the indicator stalk as you indicate ?
I have my headlights set on the "auto" position so any movement of the "switch" could only be to the "headlights on" position. However, the switch never changes, unless I deliberately change it.
Since reading this thread, I have reviewed the way I use the indicator stalk and it seems I move the stalk up/down with one finger. That’s the way my Dad taught me in 1972, it’s an ingrained habit.

The proper and correct way to do it . I suspect the wrong uns are using the thumb & forefinger method, and making a pigs ear of the whole indicating process !!!

Russ, here you go just as Gloucester mentioned, done just the same modification, still the same O.Ring installed and works perfectly. Just shows what a cheap simple mod can achieve - Dave

As I appear to be one of the "wrong uns" using the thumb & forefinger method, and making a pigs ear of the whole indicating process, I have therefore decided to use copious amounts of superglue, gaffer tape along with some old cable ties that were lying around to ensure it can never happen again. Thanks!

Russ, I was also one of the “Wrong Uns” but look on the positive side you will have solved your problem. It is surprising how some of these simple things picked up on the Forum actually are worthwhile IMHO - Dave

I couldn't understand this problem so had a look at it this morning. I use the middle finger of the left hand whilst keeping my hand on the steering wheel so have never switched the lights off. However if I grabbed the indicator with the thumb and forefinger with the hand off the steering wheel then I could see how the lights could be turned off.
