Any good experiences with the 1.2 Dig T?

Having just bought a 16 plate 1.2 N Connecta, I’m very disheartened to read all the nightmare posts on this and other forums. I first took consolation in that oil loss/engine replacements seemed confined to 15 plate Euro 5 and older qashqais, but now 16 plate and later cars seem to be affected as well.
Does anyone know the true extent to this problem with 1.2 Dig t and what Nissans current stance on the matter?

Somewhere on this site is a Nissan issued tech bulletin that states the affected VIN ranges, u should be able to find it via a search. Iirc, it was a max of 1 in 4 cars impacted at that time.

Engines can fail on any car in reality, they just don't do so very often so there will always be a report or two of such occurrences regardless of the age of the car.

Just keep in mind, most folks on forums go there because they have a problem so most comments will be issue related rather than those just heaping praise on a wonderful car.

Use this site to learn what to listen out for but then don't dwell on it, there's a very good chance it won't affect you at all.

Thanks for your reply. I’m very aware of how these forums can cause anxiety. Comments from a couple of separate 1.2dig t owners who live locally since I bought the car had lead me here. It seems the whole internet is awash with people who’ve had the same issue with this engine, in an array of vehicles. It all appears a bit excessive to me. Thanks for the reassurance though. I will ‘touch wood’ and forget about.

Personally I'm very happy with my 2018 1.2 DIG-T.

Mine was in the affected range but wasn't noisy or losing oil - nevertheless I decided selling it was preferable to an extended warranty.

I have one from 2018 and it has not taken any oil whatsoever for over 1 year now. I suspect most newer models are ok, you only hear about the complaints on this site.

Had my 67 plate for almost 2 years (10000 miles) and never had to top up oil. The only real problem was the radar module replaced for int. false triggers. Still sometimes happens but now subject to recall for the same problem.
