2019 qashqai Connect Satnav
Hi Pete,
Welcome, Ive been lurking on here for a few years, but never posted much.
I too have the newer model and according to "Nissan UK" all speed camera functions have been removed removed due to EU law. AFAIK its just Germany that's banned it, but its been scrapped. TBH there is a few things I'm disappointed with in the new connect system. TomTom connected services is laughable and don't work, speed warnings are a hit and miss, but I do miss the sharp corner warnings on the old system.
There doesn't appear to be any way to add custom POI either.
Cheers
John

You can only get camera warnings by using Waze via Android Auto now afaik.

I thought that speed camera warnings had been illegal in France for some time.
Many years ago a mate was pulled over and rebuked by a gendarme who saw him flash an oncoming motorist warning of an old fashioned speed trap.

New law in France
Effective from 3 January 2012 French laws prohibiting drivers from carrying devices capable of detecting speed cameras have been extended to include devices able to warn or inform of the location of speed cameras e.g. satnav or gps systems capable of showing speed camera sites as PoI.
As well as now banning all devices capable of warning drivers of speed camera locations, the French government is installing around 400 new fixed speed cameras and is taking down road signs indicating the location of existing fixed speed camera sites.
What should you do
If you have a satnav capable of displaying French camera locations in France then you must at least disable camera alerts before driving in France. We recommend that you contact the manufacturer of the satnav for advice as it is likely that a software or database update is available that will actually remove camera data for France from the device.
If you have a satnav system built into your car then we recommend contacting the vehicle manufacturer in the first instance.

French authority is rather dim in this respect hence the use of Waze according to my son and his mad mates. Le Mans trips and shower of speeding fines that follow.
If I went there I'd probably have pocketGPS on my phone.....eff them

My experience on my current car is that the success of a connection is VERY dependent on the lead you're using. Not even the one that came from Samsung worked on mine but I've found a short (300mm) white one that works most times.
Once you find a lead that works it should connect automatically though you may need to check the settings.
By the way you HAVE to plug it in - it simply doesn't work over Bluetooth - if that's what you've been trying to do.

Thanks for help Gloucester.. I think I have sussed it out. I was trying to connect via my usb connector which is on my dual cigarette lighter adapter. Apparently you have got to connect it to the usb socket in the centre glove box. Have'nt tried it yet though.
Also you cant use Waze while listening to music???? Its either one or the other. Any info on this. TIA.
