Hi, hope this isn't a stupid question lol
I had a vauxhall insignia before i got my new QQ 2019 1.3 Dig-T, the insignia wasn't keyless but you had to press lock button on the key fob once to lock the doors then a 2nd time to activate the alarm.
When i got my QQ the guy brought it to the house and gave us a quick demo, he actually said press the lock on the key fob twice but didn't say if the 2nd press was to also activate the alarm the same as my old car, would that be right that its the same?
He didn't go into much detail about the keyless system just the basics, but again with the alarm, if i turn the car off and get out the car and press the button on the door handle the car locks, but does that also activate the alarm?
Thanks
James

Thanks for your reply. Does anyone have any idea then if either way you lock automatically sets your alarm as well? so either getting out the car and pressing the button on the door handle or pressing the lock (once) on your fob?
From reading the above it doesnt seem like you need to press lock on the fob twice, its just the guy doing the demo said press it twice, but the guy delivers all sorta cars not just nissan's so i'm wondering if he really knew.

You only need to press once to lock.

I believe that simply locking the car with one press of the key or of the door button both locks the car and sets the alarm.
To cut a very loonngg story short....
Over the late spring I was locking the car as above and randomly the alarm was sounding.
I eventually traced this to a small moth, shut in the car, which flew around trying to get out. That was sufficient to trigger the alarm.

Hi James
Indeed if you press the door button, or lock on your key fob once, it not only locks the doors, it also sets the alarm. If you want to test it out, leave a window open on the car, then lock the car (press button only once). After a a few seconds to let the alarm set itself, lean into the car and the alarm will go off, believe me!
Good luck and happy Qashqai owning!

The door press buttons actually command the car to lock/unlock by communicating with the Key fob to do it. Same as you pressing lock or unlock with the Key Fob really.
Pressing the door button once on mine locks the car and should set the alarm. There is no way of testing that unless I break into the car and doing that will likely set off the internal volume sonic alarm first (as above post). I don't think there's a vibration related alarm on these cars although a very heavy old loaded truck closely passing my locked car recently kicked the alarm off.
I can get the alarm to go off as follows. Could be classed as alarm tests perhaps:
Any mistake I make in sequencing open the rear door with the car locked sets the alarm off. Embarrassing!
Unlock the door with the Key Fob and leave the car alone...don't open the doors or touch the car
Wait about a minute and the alarm should kick off. Thats likely about something in the Settings? It shows that the alarm can be triggered even though the car is not locked. Likely a warning about car left open?

I’ve had similar problems caused by a tiny black gnat took me ages to find it, it happened again a week later, it became a nuisance during the summer months so I disabled it.MikeGC wrote: ↑Fri Sep 20, 2019 1:00 pm I believe that simply locking the car with one press of the key or of the door button both locks the car and sets the alarm.

Now every time I switch off it asks me if I want to disable the motion alarm I just press confirm on the steering wheel, if I’m at home I disable it as I live in a pretty crime free area luckily, if I’m parking in town etc I don’t disable.
It’s saved me having to get up in the middle of the night to stop the alarm, they are extremely sensitive.
And yes James as said once locked the car is alarmed.
