We have an issue with our 64 plate QQ. It seems to be maybe electrical and also intermittent. For the last few days, whenever we try and unlock the car (and usually after having been in the car and driving/locked up/ then returned to the car situation) it just won’t unlock. It takes about 5 mins of attempting to unlock it with the fob before it suddenly decides to work - cant even hear the lock trying to work, just beeps once. It happens with both key fobs we have and both batteries in our fobs are new (changed them this week).... and yesterday when I got into the car, and pressed start, it said “key ID invalid” and I had to undo the drivers side door and shut it and get back in, try the start button again, before it would switch on - and even then i could here the car making a multiple beep in quick succession noise, as i was driving along.
Our nissan dealer service depart is utter shite - tried to tell me it was bound to be the key and not much they could do... great! I have it booked in next monday for diagnostic testing (which they also tried to charge me for before i reminded them we have an extended warranty - thank god). Any tips or hints on what this could be?? Am stressing about using the car at all but have to as its our only car! HELP!!

I don't recall seeing anything other than specific key problems. A further search around may help or someone else may pick up on it?

The only thing I can think of bar the security system itself is the condition of the 12v car battery

Apparently diagnostics came back normal. Just paid £9 for two new fob batteries despite putting new ones in last week. Just come to collect our "fixed" car... to be told they can't get it to unlock... funny that. Ffs. Knew it wasn't the key fob battery. Am sooo fuming. And now stuck waiting at Nissan! Anyone got any ideas? They’re “scratching their heads”....

Two fobs that appear to be intermittent? Both damaged/faulty the same way is very improbable.

Thoughts:
The behaviour of your fobs and/or vehicle security system appears to be corrupt. Is this behaviour happening in the same place or can you drive miles away and repeat it? I ask because there are certain areas of our land where equipment is being used that radiates strongly for perhaps 100 yds or so. Its illegal.
Thats likely something industrial and I have experienced it twice over the years. The frequencies used by vehicle security systems is public and free to use by anybody.

I have experienced that twice, once in an industrial area and one partly residential. Fortunately the car I had was both fob type for door opening and physical key for starting.

If the above can be eliminated then Nissan need to diagnose/correct this vehicle and only they can configure/change security systems for their cars. If your local Nissan is useless goto Nissan elsewhere.

Let us know know it goes please
