Hi all,

Had my j10 since August, and now winter is here I have notied that my heating in the car don't go past luke warm. It's 2011 1.5 dci if that helps.

Any suggestions what to look for to maybe sort this out and not take it to a garage.

Thanks

Ours used to take ages to warm up, I put it down to the fact that it's an economical diesel engine that doesn't produce much heat.

Either that or an airlock in the cooling system.

It could be a faulty engine cooling system thermostat.

If you consider that the cooling system must have the capacity to cool the engine during a heatwave, it follows that it will cool it too much in cold weather. The thermostat should restrict the flow of water, always keeping the engine temperature at the optimum. They usually fail open so the engine (and consequently the interior heater) run cool. Apart from a cold interior you will also be using more fuel than you should. They are normally easy to change and don't cost much.

Thanks. The temp gauge on the dash goes to the middle when t hug evengine is warm, so if it's faulty surely that would play up.?

As you say, if the temp gauge goes to the middle, I'd think that shows that the engine temp is about right so maybe its not the thermostat. Not having specific knowledge of this fault on this car I'm sorry but am not sure what to suggest. Good luck!
