Expensive evening

Loaded up my 2016 35k tekna xtronic to take cardboard for recycling and nada . No power, dash dancing like the proverbial Xmas tree lights, checked batt volts... 7.93 wtf! Called recovery out, checked battery and alternator and after 6 minutes of it drawing a charge of 60 amps I managed to get her started but had to hang onto the start button for a good 10 seconds. Left it running to put juice into the battery then retested it and The AA mans kit said replace the battery so out came a Bosch 8008 fitted, and yes it had to be coded to my vehicle the aa man said some QQ’s do some don’t... so £235 with a 5 year guarantee gulp... As my wife said, “welcome to the real world now that you’re retired and no longer have a company car”...
