Had easy hill start on my ford focus think it's great and my qashqai has it fitted to. But i'm wondering on the new 2018+ qashqai with the auto hold button near handbrake button does that mean that it replaces the easy hill start on the older qashqai cars

Colin, if our Nissan Service Guys do their job (do not out doubt they will) at each years Maintenance then all is well and good. This sort of problem needs thinking about and I do expect to pay money out for maintenance if and when required, perhaps as you mentioned costing a little more. To me a well maintained and safe car is important for me, family and friends - Dave

Kaylan, I would go along with that, but it is not only the QQ as other SUV’s are also getting more popular with the “Oldies”. I have also noticed that over here there are more and more “Oldies” Driving the Older QQ J10’s now and of course the School Run SUV’s are everywhere. Let’s Face it we all get to the “Age” Problem and in most cases there becomes a restriction in your daily life which is normally movement and you just have to adjust to it. A QQ for example for me is convenient for easier access, it is higher so you climb in not fall in, you sit higher and see more and do not have to crawl out, electric movement seats are also a great help etc....
As for the “Boy Racer” comment the 160PS / DCT does bring a smile to my face now.
I have asked recently for example “Oldies” that I know do they actually clean their vehicles still, answer was that most use the Auto Wash Facilities or the Car Park Boys. When I questioned who actually squats cleaning car wheels, most you will find do not do it, or they kneel or sit on a stool as they have a problem getting back up. You will find that most adjust to this Age problem as there is no other option except for stopping driving - Dave

Interesting posts about old farts.. .
I've driven plenty of sit up and beg vehicles - Landcruisers and Patrols. Military Land Rovers weren't so different really....plenty of levers to pull.
And I liked that rather than scraping my ar*e along the road... almost. Bathchair style and thats what I used to call my BMW 525.
I was looking (online) at the BMW X3 until I saw the price and some awkward stuff about CarPlay. I walked past one the other day and was surprised at its small size...a lot of money for that silly thing.
The alloys on the QQ I have are far easier to clean than what was on my wifes Focus. Not that I'm interested in the religious weekly cleaning like one of my neighbours...4 hours and which is not detailing. Repetitive scratching of the clear coat as far as I can tell

Your are spot on with your comments and observations Dave, I had to smile when I read what you said as it vitually all applies to me. It doesnt seem that long ago that I was zooming around in my coupe. Brought to mind an old cartoon I saw.
